Somewhere between 200 and 300 years old, this typically Moroccan home has recently been lovingly restored. Antique doors, ceilings and window shutters in rich cedarwood compliment the pretty wrought-ironwork and mosaic floors and tiling. The central courtyard is open to the sky (covered in inclement weather) and the roof terrace has spectacular views over the medina and surrounding hills.
COST: from €66 per room per night including breakfast.

Client's comments:
It's a happy house. The owners are so kind and nice; they're like their house. Laila Berrada, Casablanca
Walk out into the odiferous streets, past the camel's head on the butcher's stall; avoid being trampled by mules and donkeys; make good your escape from the wheedling salesman; after three attempts you breathe a sigh of relief, having located once again Dar El Hana where in this tranquil environment it's possible to recharge the battery then go out again and experience the excitement all over again!
